Raise Your Vibration

I don’t know about you, but winter can be a low time for vibrationally. I just don’t get as jazzed or excited about things and I get discouraged much more easily. When we feel low, many of us turn to self-sabotaging behaviors like sulking, overeating, fighting with our partners, use drugs or alcohol to feel better, etc. All these behaviors do is make us feel worse. Why not do something positive when you are low and raise your vibration?

There are so many things that drain our energy: work, annoying co-workers, needy children/friends/partners, traffic, social gatherings, the news, etc. When this happens, our vibration becomes low. Think of your vibration as how you feel: your thoughts, attitudes, and actions.  When vibration is high, we feel energized, vibrant, focused, and full of zest for life. When vibration is low, we feel depressed, angry, hopeless, and down.

The first step in raising your vibration is to recognize when it is starting to become low. How many times have you ignored the signals from your body. Instead of resting, you turned to another cup of coffee. Instead of meditating, you sat and looked at an internet site. Instead of sleeping, you drank too much wine. You get the point. When you get a symptom, stop right away and try to figure out what your body is trying to say.

The next step is to make the change your body wants. If you are not sure what is needed, work on at least one activity to raise your vibration. Here is a list of a whole lot of ideas for vibration-raising activities. Click the links for more information on some of the topics.

  • Practice gratitude.
  • Meditate (even for 10 minutes).
  • Be in nature and appreciate the beauty.
  • Listen to music.
  • Sing or chant.
  • Stop complaining or gossiping.
  • Move your body.
  • Dance.
  • Practice forgiveness.
  • Use positive affirmations and mantras.
  • Do something kind for someone else.
  • Allow yourself to feel how you want to feel.
  • Laugh.
  • Use water for therapy: take a bath or swim.
  • Hug someone tightly.
  • Tell yourself how great you are. Stop negative thinking.
  • Eat healthy, organic, local food full of color.
  • Journal out your negative thoughts.
  • Take a nap.
  • Sleep soundly every night.
  • Stay totally present, live in the now.
  • Unplug from technology.

Think how much better you would feel if you did at least a couple of those things every day. I love to listen to high-vibration music and sing, dance, or hula hoop in my house. I will find a song that lifts me up and listen to it over and over. Here is my current favorite:

The song says this:

“Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten”

How great are those words for when you are feeling blah? You write your own story every day. Only you can feel what you feel. Today is a new day. How do you want to feel? Do you want a low vibration, or do you want to live your life with arms wide open ready to embrace all the goodness that life has to offer you?!
